The EMSA dispatch center in Tulsa has been recognized by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch with it being re-accredited as an Emergency Medical Dispatch Center of Excellence.
EMSA is the 37th center worldwide to receive accreditation since March 2000.
"This accreditation shows the Tulsa region that you're going to get the best service when you call 911 because of how highly trained our dispatchers are allowing them to provide the greatest quality feedback when a medical crisis occurs," said Bryon Schultz, EMSA communications quality improvement supervisor.
The dispatch center receives approximately 10,000 calls per month. The re-accreditation is a voluntary six-month process that involves completing a detailed self-study and analysis.
