A Quapaw woman convicted of beating to death her boyfriend's 17-month-old son was sentenced to life in prison on Friday.
Skye Reece, 21, was convicted in December 2012 of first-degree murder in the child-abuse death of toddler Lanceton Hollenbeck.
During Reece's trial, a jury recommended life in prison with the possibility of parole. Ottawa County District Attorney Eddie Wyant said a judge has agreed with the jury's recommendation.
According to Oklahoma law, a person convicted of first-degree murder must serve 85 percent of their sentence before they are even considered for parole. Reece will be nearly 60 years old before she can lobby the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board.

Hollenbeck died Feb. 12, one day after being put on life support. Reece told investigators the child hit his head after falling off his bed, but investigators said the evidence didn't back up her claim.
The DA's office said the bed wasn't very high off the ground, the floor was carpeted, and a doctor's report states it appears as though the child's head was crushed.
