Jury Finds Dewey Man Guilty Of Murdering Toddler, Recommends Life Sentence

A Washington County jury found a Dewey man guilty of first degree murder for the death of his 15-month-old stepdaughter Friday evening.

The jury recommended a sentence of life in prison for Marcus Mitchell.

Mitchell admitted he hit the little girl on the back, but said she was choking on cereal and he was just trying help.

The girl's mother, Ashley Mitchell, pleaded guilty to child neglect and enabling child abuse last week. She could also be facing life in prison when she's sentenced later this year.
