Facebook Helps Animal Welfare Reunite Owners With Lost Pets

The agency has had a Facebook page for a couple of years with general info. A few months ago, it created a second page for just lost and found.

It seems people are finding new uses for social media all the time.

Tulsa Animal Welfare is using Facebook to help connect pet owners with their lost animals.

The agency has had a Facebook page for a couple of years with general info.

A few months ago, it created a second page for just lost and found.

"The reason we started the second one we were getting more and more people posting lost and found on our main page," Jean Letcher said.

And guess what?

"We've had several animals who've found their way back home because of our page," Letcher said. "What that means is, that animal is not coming into our system."

So it's not costing any money, how about that -- using social media to help animals, pet owners and saving the taxpayers a few bucks, too.
