Shawn Glover and Damen Bell-Holter's monster nights led the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles to a big 75-54 win over McNeese State Saturday night in Tulsa.
Glover scored 24 points on 11-14 shooting while also grabbing eight rebounds. Bell-Holter added 22 on 9-15 shooting while also grabbing eight boards.
Their big nights helped to make up for Warren Niles' off-game. Niles, who came in averaging nearly 20 points per game and dropped 33 his last time out, scored just five points on 2-10 shooting. He did contribute seven rebounds to the winning cause.
ORU held a 34-23 lead at halftime and McNeese's attempt to shoot its way back into it failed. The Cowboys shot just 38 percent from the floor and 5-20 from 3-point range.
The Golden Eagles (12-8, 7-1) shot 54.4 percent and outrebounded the Cowboys 39-26.
Kevin Hardy led the way for McNeese (8-10, 2-6) with 12 points and six assists but was the only Cowboy to reach double-figures.
To add to the joy of the ORU victory, Stephen F. Austin lost at Northwestern State. The Lumberjacks' first conference loss of the season brings Oral Roberts back into a first-place tie in the Southland Conference.
Next up for the Golden Eagles is a home date with Nicholls State on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
