Shaquille Harrison's layup with 16:51 remaining in the first half gave the Golden Hurricane a 6-5 lead over Marshall.

After that?

Marshall followed that layup with a 19-0 run to blow the game wide open and put Tulsa away early.

The Thundering Herd outscored TU 43-20 in the first half, taking the mystery right out of this matchup and running away to a 79-61 win Wednesday night.

The Hurricane responded in the second half, outscoring Marshall 41-36, but it was too little too late.

Harrison and James Woodard led TU with 12 points each, while Rashad Ray added 11 off the bench.

Elijah Pittman's 19 points led the way for the Herd, while D.D. Scarver DeAndre Kane added 16 points each.

Marshall out-rebounded TU 45-28 and won the assist battle 18-10.

The Golden Hurricane (9-7, 1-1) did force 20 Marshall (8-8, 1-1) turnovers including 15 steals.

Next up for TU is a date with Rice on Saturday, Jan. 12.
