A Green Country high school will represent Oklahoma in the upcoming Presidential Inauguration Parade.

The 60 Union High School Air Force Junior ROTC cadets will march in the parade in Washington, D.C. on January 21.

They were notified over winter break that they were to be the only high school ROTC in the county selected to participate in the historic event.

"How often does anybody get to be a part of something that takes place only once every 4 years?" said Lieutenant Colonel Ron McCool.

A different group of cadets from the same ROTC marched in President Barack Obama's first inauguration parade four years ago.

This group has spent months hoping they'd be able to go, too, and now they have to quickly raise the money they need to make the trip. The group's participation in the parade hinges on their ability to raise the $40,000 in the next three weeks.

If you'd like to help, donations can be made online to the Union AFJROTC booster club.
