The new American Legion Post in the community of Oktaha is being named after a Porter soldier who died in Afghanistan in August 2011.

Specialist Joshua Seals served with the Oklahoma National Guard's 45th infantry. He was 21 and graduated from Porter High School in 2008.

American Legion Post 403 will be named in his honor on January 12th at 3 p.m. during a ceremony in the Muskogee County community.

The new post will meet in Oktaha's city hall at 202 South Main Street.

Post commander Lanny Cartwright says Seals' parents are both veterans and the post leadership decided recently to name the post after Joshua Seals.

Seals' parents will attend the ceremony in January.
