Tulsa Police say they were called to a home near 14th and Sandusky just before midnight Monday after a man threatened his wife and three children with a knife.

Police say Stanley Smith, 51, had been drinking and may have been on drugs.

Police say Smith put a knife to his wife's throat but the woman escaped and barricaded herself and her three small boys in the bathroom until officers arrived. Officers say he also threatened one of the children with the knife.  Officers helped the woman and her sons climb out a window.

Police used a K9 dog to find Smith, who was hiding under a deck in the back yard. He was transported to the hospital for treatment for dog bites.

Tulsa Police had some Christmas presents which they gave to the three boys.

Smith was booked into the Tulsa County jail on two complaints of assault with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest.
