A new K9 officer will begin patrolling in the LeFlore County community of Panama come January.
Mok Metal, a 19-month old German Shepard has three more weeks of training this month and will take over for ‘Creed' who was shot to death in August 2012.
Mok Metal is from Germany and since the death of the police department's K9 officer, the Department has been working with Vigilant K9 Services to get a new K9 officer on the force.
The cost of purchasing and training Mok Metal is about $10,500. Sgt. Andy Bevil is the dog's handler and says they still need to raise $7,000.
On-line donations to pay for Mok Metal.
Sgt. Bevil says they are still investigating Creed's death. He says they've got a few tips but not enough information to make an arrest.
If someone has information concerning Creed to call Panama Police at 918-963-4600.
