Oral Roberts senior guard Kevi Luper has been named Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. It marks the second time this season Luper has earned this distinction.
Luper scored 40 points to go along with five steals, four rebounds and a block in Oral Roberts' tough 73-72 overtime loss to Missouri State. The senior from Adair, Okla. (Adair H.S.), shot 43.8 percent from the field (14-for-32), 44.4 percent from 3-point range (4-for-9) and a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. It was the third time in Luper's career that she has reached the 40-point plateau in a game.
Honorable mention this week goes to Sam Houston State senior forward Sequeena Thomas, Southeastern Louisiana sophomore guard Elizabeth Styles and McNeese State senior guard Caitlyn Baggett. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland women's basketball sports information directors.
Each school's sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own player.
