Former Jenks police officer Tim McDaniel is the new Mounds Chief of Police. McDaniel, who also served as the Pawnee County Deputy Sheriff, will be sworn in at the Tuesday night City Council meeting.

McDaniel was one of over 30 applicants from five states, according to Mounds Mayor Aaron Veale. Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz and TCSO's human resources unit aided in the hiring process, Veale said.

The offer of employment was made November 3.

Retired Tulsa Police Officer Bob Randolph was acting as interim chief. Chad Long, the former Mounds police chief, was charged with a count of embezzlement in Creek County. Investigators say Long and Jerry Grafton (also a former officer at Mounds) each took $5,000 of some found cash that had been turned into the department.
