On Wednesday, the Cherokee Nation broke ground on a new food distribution center in Collinsville.
The tribe is extending its reach, helping feed underprivileged families in northeast Oklahoma.
The new 6,400-square foot facility will be housed in a supermarket setting and will provide free groceries those who meet the income guidelines.
The Collinsville food distribution center will cost nearly $600,000 and is expected to double the number of families currently served.
