Attorney: Victory Christian Youth Pastors Target Of Smear Campaign

We have new information regarding John and Charica Daugherty's request to have a misdemeanor charge against them dropped.

They are accused of failing to report suspected child abuse at Victory Christian in a timely manner.

Their attorney says the two are the target of a political smear campaign by the District Attorney's office.

He says at least three other people, including a police officer, were notified of the abuse allegations, yet none of them reported the crime and they aren't facing the same misdemeanor charges.

He says the Daughertys had no direct information about possible abuse, and the police officer put false information in the affidavit that led to their arrest.
