A Red Cross volunteer from the Tulsa area was on hand at the Red Cross' national headquarters on Tuesday when President Barack Obama stopped by.

Donna Head said, "It was a huge honor," to meet the president.

Head is one of a number of Red Cross volunteers assisting with disaster relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Four more Red Cross volunteers from eastern Oklahoma will be deployed this week.

One volunteer left Wednesday to help with damage assessment in White Plains, New York. Three volunteers will leave Thursday. Two more leave Thursday for White Plains to help with shelter operations and one will also leave Thursday to serve with the Disaster Services Technology group of the Red Cross.
