As we wrap up the month of October, I'm so thrilled at all the pink I see! From the NFL to store shelves, everyone is showing their true colors. PINK! I'm really happy to see all the ways people are raising awareness for breast cancer.
I've been busy too! Many groups have invited me to share my personal story at their churches, lunch & learn series at businesses and sometimes just in the grocery store while I'm shopping! I LOVE it! When people are more aware about a subject, it's not as scary. Plus, it helps them open up and ask questions when maybe before they didn't know what to say.
Every October I make this plea to you. If you are 40 years of age or older and never had a mammogram, call your doctor NOW! If you aren't doing monthly breast self-exam, learn how NOW! And if you have any questions, get answers NOW!
Also, let me pass along some phone numbers that might help if you have no insurance or minimal insurance. Oklahoma Project Woman 1-877-550-7465, Indian Healthcare 918-588-1900 and Morton Health 918-587-2171 are a few of the local groups that can help.
And when it comes to the Internet websites, www.komen.org and www.cancer.org are two I highly recommend to help with your cancer questions.
Passionately Pink All Year Long!
