Suspect In Missouri Amber Alert Arrested, Victim Safe

Missouri authorities have canceled an Amber Alert after they believed a registered sex offender from the Poplar Bluff area may have been headed to Oklahoma after he allegedly abducted a 5-year-old girl late Tuesday in Southeast Missouri. 

The victim was a 5-year-old Poplar Bluff girl.  The suspect was identified as 45-year-old Jeffrey Shelton.

Police say Jeffrey Shelton was arrested about 10 miles south of Poplar Bluff.  The girl, Abigail Berthoff was recovered safe and sound and is now in protective custody.
