The Golden Hurricane men's soccer team will play Marshall on Saturday, Sept. 29th at 7 p.m. at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. Tickets are $5 and can be bought at the north ticket gate. All kids under 8th grade wearing a soccer jersey will get in free.
Tulsa (6-3, 1-0 C-USA) has recorded three-straight victories, including a win over #11 Creighton (2-0), South Carolina (4-0) and Oakland (7-5). TU has outscored its opponents, 24-11, and has a 2.67 goals per game average. Cristian Mata has netted eight goals, while Akeil Barrett and Bryce Follensbee each have five goals, and five other players have put one into the back of the net this season.
TU ranks fifth in total goals (24), sixth in scoring offense (2.67 gpg), 10th in total points (66) and 24th in total assists (18) among the nation's best. Individually, Mata is 13th in goals per game (.86), 14th in points per game (1.86), 19th in total goals (8) and 25th in total points (17); Barrett and Follensbee are 35th in total goals (5) and 37th in total points (12); and Stephen Roberson is 18th in total assists (4) and 37th in assists per game (.5).
The Thundering Herd is 7-0-1 on the season and 1-0 in Conference USA after tallying a 1-0 overtime win against Memphis earlier this week. The Thundering Herd has seven shutouts on the year, allowing just one goal in eight contests. Their goalkeeper, Daniel Withrow, has a .12 goals-against average and a .967 saves percentage.
The Hurricane has a 6-2-1 lead over the Marshall in the all-time series.
