One of Green Country's most fashionable destinations features looks from some of Tulsa's youngest fashion designers.

Gowns designed by 12 third graders from Kendall-Whittier Elementary, all students at the Tulsa Girls Art School, were being featured in an art gallery Thursday night.

The girls made the sketches and then worked with seamstresses to see their designs put on display at downtown's Mayo Hotel.

"They have to do lots of art shows and lots of public speaking," said Tulsa Girls Art School executive director Matt Moffett. "They have to stand in front of their art, and tonight, in front of their gowns and explain what they did, why they did it, what was their inspiration, also talk about the collaboration with the designers and what it was like to have a 'Project Runway' experience."

The gowns were all up for sale and the proceeds are split between the Art School and the girls' own savings accounts.
