Tulsa, Oklahoma – The Tulsa women's soccer team tied Oral Roberts, 1-1, in double overtime on Friday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU moved to 5-2-1 on the season, while ORU went to 3-3-2 overall.
"It is a cross-town rival and this is what you expect in this game," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "I thought we played well. We were a bit unfortunate to not get another goal, but I am proud of the effort. This was a good last test as we head into Conference USA play."
Rebecca Handley scored TU's lone goal as she headed in a free kick taken by Claire Hulcer from two yards out at the 21:21 mark. This was Handley's fourth goal on the season, the second most for a Hurricane player on the year.
The Golden Hurricane then knocked one into their own net to tie the contest in the 35th minute. Neither team could find the back of the net in the next 75 minutes to end the game in a tie.
Handley had a team-best six shots, while Jordan O'Brien came in off the bench and added five attempts. Hulcer and Raven Tatum both had three shots in the contest. Hayley Harryman logged all 110 minutes in goal and picked up one save.
Tulsa had a 24-4 lead in shots, including a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal, while TU also recorded all four corner kicks in the game.
The Hurricane will return to action on Friday, Sept. 21st against Rice in Houston, Texas. ORU will take on Mississippi valley State on the road Sunday at 1 p.m.
