The Tulsa Golden Hurricane didn't have enough on Friday to hang with Dayton, falling to the 20th-ranked Dayton Flyers.
Tyler Henderson finished with 12 kills and Jessica Adams had 16 digs for the Tulsa volleyball team in the 3-0 loss. Tulsa lost the sets 19-25, 17-25, 18-24 at the Golden Hurricane Classic at the Reynolds Center.
The Golden Hurricane (7-6) concludes the tournament against No. 10 Minnesota at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Setters Jordan and Bailey Clampitt tallied 15 and 12 assists, respectively. Outside hitter Kellie Culbertson recorded seven kills, and middle blocker Ashley Hooper had six kills and a pair of blocks. TU hit .089 as a team, and totaled 42 digs and 4.0 blocks. Dayton (8-3) hit .327, with 47 digs and 8.0 blocks. Each team had three service aces.
The first set was tied at 18 apiece, but Dayton scored seven of the final eight points to claim at 25-19 win. The Flyers held a 23-12 advantage late in the second frame, before the Hurricane used a 5-1 run to close the gap to 24-17, but UD took the set 25-17. Dayton broke a 1-1 tie in the third set, and held a steady lead between four and seven points throughout the set as it took the final frame, 25-18.
Tulsa's match against Minnesota will be preceded by Dayton and Kansas State at 11 a.m.
