A Broken Arrow firefighter is honored for his life-saving service while off the job.

Will Vaughn was recognized Friday for saving a woman's life while they were both vacationing in Mexico this summer.

Vaughn, who is also a paramedic, revived the woman with CPR after she nearly drowned.

State Representative David Brumbaugh presented the award Friday afternoon.

"These are the great stories that we need to tell people about our great firefighters here in Broken Arrow, and this is a great man who performed a great service," said Representative Brumbaugh.

The Broken Arrow Fire Department said Vaughn's heroics abroad made him an excellent ambassador for the city.
