According to Broken Arrow Police, the number one killer of children under the age of 14 is motor vehicle accidents.

That's why they say it's important for parents to make sure their child's car seat is properly installed.

Broken Arrow Police, in partnership with Safe Kids Tulsa Area and the Broken Arrow Fire Department, have opened a new permanent station, where people can go once a month to have infant and child car seats inspected.

"There are lots of details you have to look at," said Safe Kids coordinator Beth Washington. "Is the car seat installed properly to your vehicle? Are you using the seatbelt correctly? Are you using the lower anchors correctly?"

Authorities say children should be at least four-feet, nine-inches and weigh more than 80 pounds before they ride in a vehicle without a car seat.
