Oklahoma State University is welcoming its largest-ever freshman class and the largest freshman class at a public university in state history, a news release said.
The 2012 OSU freshman class totals 4,306, a 10 percent increase from the 2011 freshman class, which was the fourth-largest class in OSU history. The incoming class tops the previous OSU high of 3,927 in 1980.
One in every seven incoming OSU freshmen carried a 4.0 high school grade point average, the release said.
In addition, the Associated Press reported University of Oklahoma President David Boren has announced the newest freshman class, comprised of more than 4,100 students, is the largest in OU history.
Boren said one of every nine incoming OU freshmen carried a 4.0 high school GPA, the AP reported.
