Students also returned to class in Jenks today, with a little support from the Tulsa Fire Department.

Firefighters parked trucks at intersections near school to draw attention to busy school zones.

It's not necessarily aimed at parents, but drivers in general.

"There's a whole bunch of folks who don't have kids, and so they're just used to going to and from work," Phil Lakin, Tulsa City Council, said. "They just need to be reminded that this is an important day, and that school is going to be in session for about nine months from this day forward."

Firefighters also will be near Tulsa Public Schools when classes begin next week.
