Matt Rizzotti hit a go-ahead single in the top of the ninth inning Monday night to lift the Midland RockHounds to a 5-4 victory over the Tulsa Drillers.
Midland got out to an early 3-0 lead in this one, but Tulsa slowly battled back. Nolan Arenado's sacrifice fly tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning. The teams would exchange runs until the Rizzotti became the hero in the ninth.
Parker Frazier allowed four runs in six innings for Tulsa while Sonny Gray pitched 6 1/3 of four-run-ball for Midland. Neither starting pitcher factored in the decision. Josh Sullivan took the loss for Tulsa and Gary Daly earned the win in relief for Midland.
The loss ends Tulsa's three-game winning streak, and ends the three-game series with Midland. The Drillers get the day off Tuesday before getting back at it on Wednesday in Frisco.
