Two Oologah teens were hurt injured after crashing their pickup truck on a rural Rogers County road Tuesday evening.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the crash happened on EW 38 about a mile northeast of Oologah schools at 7:09 p.m.
Troopers say the 2000 Chevrolet pickup driven by Chance Fishpaw, 16, was eastbound at a high rate of speed when he looked down at his cell phone. The pickup went off the road, hit a fence and rolled.
His passenger, 13-year-old Dallas Lawrence, was pinned in the wreckage for about 22 minutes before firefighters were able to free him.
Lawrence was flown by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
Fishpaw was taken by ambulance to a Tulsa hospital with head and arm injuries.
The OHP reported that Fishpaw was wearing a seat belt but Lawrence was not. Family members tell News On 6 Lawrence's grandfather arrived on the scene quickly and had unbuckled him before troopers arrived.
