Two Tulsa teenagers died after the vehicle they were in collided with a utility pole near Sapulpa Thursday afternoon.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the truck caught fire, making it difficult to rescue 17-year-old Megan Foresman and 16-year-old Garrett Beckner, who were trapped inside.

The driver, 22-year-old James Bradbury of Tulsa, was ejected from the truck and transported to a local hospital. He is listed in critical condition.

The collision happened on Frankoma Road between West 81st Street South and West 91st Street South.

Troopers said the truck was southbound at a high rate of speed, when Bradbury lost control, rolled and struck the pole.

Both Foresman and Beckner were pronounced dead at the scene of massive injuries.

The truck fire also sparked a grass fire in the area. The Sapulpa Fire Department, with an assist from the Sand Springs Fire Department, was able to keep it away from homes and businesses.

It took just under two hours to put out the small grass fire, the Sand Springs Fire Department said.
