The City of Claremore is asking residents to continuing conserving water. Claremore Lake is losing about a half inch to an inch each day to evaporation and usage, city officials say.

They put out a plea last week because of low water levels in towers. That's improving, but now a dropping lake level is causing concern.

Lake levels are getting dangerously low, the city said in a news release Tuesday. As of that date, Claremore Lake was down 26.16 inches.

If it doesn't rain soon and the lake level reaches a negative level of 36 inches, City officials will be forced to call for mandatory water rationing.

Continuing voluntary conservation will allow the City to attempt to fill the towers now and operate the plant at a lower capacity to slow the drop in the lake level.
