Police Release Identity Of Robbery Suspect Who Shot At Officers

Police have released the identity of the man who died after robbing a donut shop and shooting at police officers as they pursued him.

Davano Pouncil, 26, was eventually cornered by police in a cul-de-sac at South 108th East Place Thursday morning.

Tulsa Police said when they confronted Pouncil, he turned the gun on himself. Officers opened fire at the same time.

Police said Pouncil had what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Pouncil's body was transported to the Medical Examiner's office for further investigation.

The officers involved in the incident were Sergeant Eric Sokoloski, 41, and K-9 Officer Shayne Thomas, 39. Both officers have been employed by Tulsa Police for over ten years.

Sgt. Sokoloski and Officer Thomas are currently on administrative leave.
