New trash carts are rolling out to residents in the city of Tulsa. The delivery process started Monday, as the 245,917 refuse and recycling carts make their way to front yards in west Tulsa.
The city estimates that about 900 homes will receive a new cart daily over the next 10 weeks.
Stanley Jackson was one of the first to try out the city's brand new carts.
They're pretty nice. I like them," said Jackson. "As you see, I got the big ones, and there are times when we got a lot of trash, so it will work out great for us."
On the first day of delivery, carts were dropped off to about 900 homes, ready to be used.
Over the next 10 weeks, more than 240,000 city-issued carts will be distributed.

"Due to the limited availability of contractor's recycling collection vehicles, cart delivery will begin in West Tulsa so that collection crews have convenient access to the recycling process plant as well as the waste to energy plant," the city announced in a news release.
Customers may begin to use their new City-issued carts upon receipt. Information about what to do with old carts and containers will be included with the new carts.
The full schedule for the trash cart distribution is below:
"We're excited to get the carts to residents, and we're excited that residents can start using the carts once they receive the," said Liz Hunt, of the City of Tulsa.
With each trash cart, comes a recycling cart.
Though it's not mandatory, the city hopes customers will take advantage of the recycling service.
"Being able to separate things, because kids, they've have a lot of plastic, go through milk and everything else you can name, so it'll work out great," Jackson said.
It's a curbside transition that should help keep Tulsa beautiful.
Once the carts are delivered, they're ready to use.
As for your old cart, if you don't want it, the trash service will take it, just mark that it's trash.
Also, a "Know Your Trash" guide is going out with all the new carts, which should answer any questions folks might have.
Customers who still have questions about cart distribution can call 918-596-9777 or visit the City of Tulsa web site for more information.
