Prosecutors charged a Vinita doctor with second degree manslaughter in the death of a patient Monday.

The District Attorney's office claims Doctor Mickey Tyrrell prescribed hundreds of Demerol pain pills to Tammy Dawn Daniels, over a two-month period in 2009.

Court records show, at the same time, another doctor was prescribing Daniels hydrocodone and OxyContin.

She died from an overdose.

Last year, the state medical board suspended Doctor Tyrrell's license for 30 days but did not put any restrictions on his ability to write prescriptions.
