McIntosh County Commissioners Adopt Burn Ban

The Board of County Commissioners of McIntosh County adopted a burn Monday morning.

The Board of County Commissioners of McIntosh County adopted a burn Monday morning.

The ban is in effect until July 16, 2012 and may be extended if conditions warrant.

The ban covers all outside burning, including campfires and trash fires.  Gas grilling is exempt, as is welding, cutting, torch or grinding activities as long as the worker uses a spotter with pressurized water or fire extinguisher.

Anyone wanting to conduct controlled burning of brush piles, pastures or any other debris must get a permit from the fire department that has jurisdiction there.
