State Highway 11 in Osage County will be closed starting on Saturday, July 7, 2012 for a bridge replacement project.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says both east and westbound lanes of the highway will be closed at the Red Eagle Branch Creek.
ODOT says in early June, portions of the retaining walls and embankment washed out following heavy rains. Crews were able to make some temporary repairs which reopened the road at that time.
Earlier this month, the state awarded a $685,000 emergency repair contract to replace the bridge.
The bridge was built in 1925 and is considered structurally deficient.
The highway closure is expected to take about 2 months.
Drivers should use state Highway 123, US Highway 60 and state Highway 99 as a detour while the highway is closed.
