A Kiowa teenager is dead after the pickup he was driving left the roadway, rolled twice and collided with a tree.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Roberto Terjo, 16, was ejected from a 2000 Ford F-150 and pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Kyle Shields, 17, of Pittsburg, Okla., was transported in severe condition by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital.

The wreck took place just before 1 p.m. Monday, near Pittsburg Road and Pleasant Valley Road in Atoka County.

Unsafe speed may have contributed to the crash, according to the investigating trooper.

Neither teen was wearing a seat belt, the collision report said.
