Shock Falls To Dream 102-92

The Tulsa Shock couldn't overcome a slow start and a red-hot shooting performance from Atlanta, falling 102-92 to the Dream in the BOK Center on Friday.

Atlanta got off to a torrid shooting start and took an 11-point lead after the first quarter, a lead the Shock struggled to put a dent into the rest of the evening. Tulsa led just once in the game at 2-0 but never led again and trailed by as many as 24 points.

In the first half, the Dream shot 63 percent from the floor, 60 percent from 3 and 91 percent from the foul line. The shooting didn't slow down much for the Dream, who finished 61 percent from the floor, 55 percent from 3 and 82 percent from the line.

Tulsa outscored Atlanta in the final three quarters by one, highlighted by a plus-9 fourth quarter, but couldn't undo the damage done in the first.

Tulsa cut Atlanta's lead to 10 in the fourth by opening on a 12-4 run. The Shock then cut the lead to 95-89 with 1:52 left in the game but failed to cut anymore as the score ballooned back to 10 because of late fouls.

The Shock finished with 42 percent shooting, 33 percent from the 3-point line (5-for-15) and 74 percent from the free-throw line.

Atlanta also outrebounded Tulsa by 10 but the Shock was able to make a run and keep the game close by forcing 20 Dream turnovers and committing just nine themselves.

Tulsa received a balanced scoring output in the loss with six players scoring in double figures. Glory Johnson and Ivory Latta led the Shock with 16 each, Riquna Williams poured in 15, Kayla Pederson 14, Temeka Johnson 12 and former Sooner star Cortney Paris scored 10 on 4-for-4 shooting.

Atlanta's Angel McCoughtry led all scorers with 24 to pace five Dream players in double digits.

Atlanta improved to 7-7 on the season as the Shock fell to 2-12. Tulsa returns to the court July 6 to face Connecticut for its fourth in a six-game home stand.
