Tulsa Police say a woman escaped injury when her van struck a freight train at a railroad crossing on Southwest Boulevard early Friday morning.

The crash closed the crossing near 17th Street for about an hour as crews moved the train and towed away the van.

Police ticketed the driver for driving too fast for conditions.

Tulsa Police say drivers need to pay closer attention at railroad crossings especially when it's dark.

They say a railroad crossing sign is classified as a yield sign and drivers need to check both directions before driving through a railroad crossing.
