The bluffs in Osage Hills State Park, located about nine miles west of Bartlesville, are a popular spot for thrill seekers. Kelsey and Jamie Manuel came with friends for some summer fun Thursday evening.

The girls say one group of people there that evening was full of daredevils.

"There were 7 or 8 guys standing here," Jamie Manuel said. "First guy cleared it. Then Lucas jumped. And you can almost see the shadow of the rock under there."

A rock, hidden beneath the water right below the divers.

16-year-old Lucas Page didn't see it and dove headfirst.

"He was just floating. It's just dark, murky water and it isn't easy to see anything," Jamie said. "That was the scariest feeling in the world. What are we going to see when we pull him up?"

Page was severely injured. The rock sliced his scalp open.

Kelsey, the only one with a cell phone, called 911 and sprinted for help. Jamie tried to stop the bleeding.

Page was flown by helicopter to a Tulsa hospital. His mother says he fractured his skull, cheeks, and jaw. He had surgery and was put into a coma.

His mother says doctors didn't think he would be able to talk again. But miraculously, Page is awake and speaking. His mother says he doesn't remember much. The Manuels say they are relieved to hear of his recovery. But they say they will not go back to the bluffs to dive.

Park rangers say there are signs clearly warning of the danger of jumping. But the girls say the signs aren't enough.

"I wish it wouldn't have happened," Kelsey Manuel said.
