Calf Butchered In Rogers County Roadway, Reward Offered For Leads

The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the people who killed and butchered a 10-month old calf on a rural road near Chelsea in Rogers County last month. 

According to the sheriff's office, on May 27, 2012, rancher Rob Bacon discovered one of his calves skinned and butchered on the east side of County Road 4200, a quarter-mile south of 300 Road, six miles northwest of Chelsea. 

Deputies believe the calf was dragged through a barbed wire fence then killed and butchered in the middle of the roadway. 

This is the third calf butchered in the area in the past six months, said TSCRA Special Ranger John Cummings, who is working the investigation in conjunction with the Rogers County Sheriff's Office.

Meanwhile, the TSCRA is looking for information into the disappearance of cattle in Osage and Okfuskee counties last month. 

TSCRA Special Ranger Bart Perrier says a black Brangus bull went missing from a ranch near Barnsdall in early May and a black Angus cross bull and four Angus-Limousine cross cows went missing from farm land near Welty in Okfuskee County on May 26, 2012.
