Two members of the Creek Nation left Thursday for Ocmulgee Mounds, Georgia, the tribe's ancestral home.

John Beaver and Justin Giles will start back to Oklahoma on Saturday, on a tour of the Trail of Tears. Beaver will ride a bicycle; Giles will drive and provide support for the journey.

The men hope to raise awareness about fitness, and reducing the number of diabetes cases in the Native American community.

They also hope their journey will educate the public about the tribe's history.

"While we live here in Oklahoma, we're actually not one of the tribes from Oklahoma and I think that's a necessary story that needs to be told," John Beaver said.
