Tulsa-Bound Flight Veers Off Chicago Runway During Emergency Landing

An American Eagle flight bound for Tulsa on Thursday was forced to make an emergency landing in Chicago and slid off the runway.

No one was injured.

American Eagle Flight 4069 had just taken off from O'Hare International Airport for Tulsa International Airport, when the pilot noticed a warning light in the cockpit of the Embraer ERJ-145 twin-engine jet, a spokesperson with American Airlines said.

According to Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory, the pilot declared an emergency and returned to O'Hare, landing on the runway at 8:38 a.m. During the landing, the plane veered off the runway onto a cargo taxi way.

It is reportedly the same aircraft that made an emergency landing Wednesday because of landing gear problems.

There were 28 passengers and a crew of three on the aircraft.

The passengers were evacuated and were put on another flight. It arrived safely in Tulsa just after 1 p.m.
