The Nathan Hale Rangers have named a new head football coach in Tony Peters.

Peters is an ex-NFL player that has coached football and track with Tulsa Public Schools since 2002.

"Tony Peters has a wealth of knowledge and experience as a high school, college and professional football player," said Gil Cloud, Tulsa Public Schools athletic director. "We are pleased to have a person with his background and ability serve as the head football coach at Nathan Hale High School."

Peters played 10 years in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns and Washington Redskins, including the Redskins team that won Super Bowl XVII. He was a fourth-round draft pick out of the University of Oklahoma in 1975 by the Browns and was named to the All-Rookie team that year.

Before coming to Tulsa, he coached in Greenville, Texas; Muskogee and Sapulpa. He has a bachelor's degree from OU.
