Golden Hurricane Softball Defeats Missouri State

The TU softball team is now 27-8 on the year after a 2-1 victory over the Bears.

The Golden Hurricane softball team notched another victory to move to 37-8 on the year thanks to a 2-1 win over Missouri State in Springfield Wednesday night.

Jessica Stoelke paced TU with three hits and one RBI while Lacey Middlebrooks took care of business on the mound with a career-high 10 strikeouts.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Missouri State's Heather Duckworth blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth for a 1-0 early lead for the Bears.

TU responded in the top of the seventh as Samantha Cobb knocked a double and then scored off a single by Middlebrooks to knot the score at 1-1.

The Golden Hurricane took the lead in the eighth with Stoelke ripped a triple to right to score Middlebrooks from first making it 2-1.

Tulsa held the Bears for the remainder of the game. Middlebrooks went eight innings allowing only five hits and one run while tallying 10 strikeouts for a new career high.

Missouri State's Natalie Rose pitched eight frames allowing nine hits and two runs with four strikeouts.

Duckworth led the Bears with one hit and one RBI as Missouri State is now 17-17 on the season.

Tulsa is back in action at Marshall for a three game Conference-USA series this weekend. First pitch is slated for Friday at noon.
