Three Tulsa City Council Seats Up For Election This Year

Next Monday, April 9, 2012 is the first of a three day filing period for three Tulsa city council seats up for election this year.

Candidates seeking the three seats, district 1, 4 and 7, can file the necessary paperwork at the Tulsa County Election Board at 555 North Denver.

No word yet if the current councilors Jack Henderson, Blake Ewing and Thomas Mansur will seek another term on the 9 member council.

In February 2011, Tulsa voters approved a change in the city charter reducing council terms to two years.

Voters also approved resetting the election cycle so that all nine councilors would be up for election at the same time. That election cycle has not yet been reset.

The primary election for the three seats are June 26, 2012, with a general election set for Tuesday, November 8, 2012.

The election board office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
