Dining at the Drillers will be AWESOME

The Drillers are going to have a ton of talent on the field this season… but the REAL all stars could be in the kitchens and concession stands. All kidding aside, I'm REALLY looking forward to the upcoming season on the Drillers' food scene.

New this year:

-Gourmet hot dog stand called FRANX down the first base line

-Hamburger stand called BurgerTopia down the third baseline

-Ice Cream/Frozen Yogurt center set up in centerfield called SWEET

Yes, I like to eat. I really like to eat at sporting events and consider myself somewhat of a ball park food connoisseur. When ONEOK Field first opened, our sports producers here at the TV station, Joe McCann, and I tasted and rated all the food that the Drillers serve in the suites on the Single-Double-Triple-Homerun grading scale. The desserts were pretty darn awesome and so were the chicken wings.

The best thing I've ever eaten at a ballpark was in Lafayette, La. at a Ragin Cajuns game. The Cajuns are known for their food prowess but one guy strayed from the traditional sausage and spice combo and had ragin' success. I had a philly cheese steak there that was the best I'd ever eaten. It was so big it came in a bowl and you needed a fork to eat it with. It was stellar.

Now, the Drillers can top THAT this season with their philly cheese steak HOT DOG from FRANX. I like, no – make that LOVE, hot dogs. I am also a sucker for a good philly cheese steak. Put them together, and we could have something good going on here.

FRANX will also offer a pizza dog and a loaded baked potato dog among others. Drillers' GM Mike Melega says his favorite is the Firecracker dog… a Mexican-inspired dog. I'm pumped to try that. Oh, did I mention all of the hot dogs will be served in buns made out of soft pretzels?

The burger scene gets a jolt as well at BurgerTopia. They will have burgers topped with shredded BBQ meats or mushrooms or anything else you can imagine. The Drillers are hoping SWEET is a big hit with fans during the super hot summer months. It's basically a weight-and-pay concept like the Orange Leafs and Cherry Berrys of the world. Imagine sitting in your outfield seat with a cold, refreshing spoonful of fro-yo in your hand. That sounds like the perfect way to top off a 1st inning FRANX dog and a 5th inning snack from BurgerTopia.

Bring on the baseball!!!! Opening day is April 12th.
