After a tight nine innings, a big at-bat in the top of the ninth cost the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles a series sweep, falling to Louisiana Tech 3-2.
Jared Schlehuber started things off for the Golden Eagles, knocking a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead, which held for the next four innings.
In the top of the fifth, Kyle Arnsberg drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second in the next at-bat thanks to a single. Taylor Burch followed with another single to right field, bringing Arnsberg home to tie the game 1-1.
Louisiana Tech took the lead in the top of the sixth, thanks to a two-out, solo home run from Alex Williams in the top of the sixth.
Nate Goro grounded out in the bottom of the eighth, allowing Schlehuber to score from third and tie the game, but it wouldn't last. In the top of the ninth, Justin Gordey hit a single and two at-bats later Sam Alvis tripled to center field to bring Gordey home and take a 3-2 advantage.
Caleb Dudley (4-0) was credited with a win for the outing, giving up just one earned run on two hits and striking out three in her 3.2 innings of service. Matt Rush (0-2) received his second loss of the season, allowing an earned run on two hits in one inning pitched.
The Golden Eagles will try to get back to winning at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Arkansas-Little Rock in a mid-week matchup.
