A 32-year-old Tulsa man is dead after crashing his motorcycle into a newspaper delivery truck during a high-speed police chase early Friday morning.

It happened just after 2 a.m. near 61st and 129th East Avenue.

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper tried to pull over two motorcycles for speeding south on Highway 169.  Both cyclists sped off, then exited at 81st Street and wound their way through Broken Arrow neighborhoods with the trooper in pursuit.

Speeds during the chase reached 100 mph.

The OHP says the trooper lost sight of one of the motorcycles but stayed in pursuit with the other as it headed north on 129th East Avenue.

That motorcyclist ran a red light at 61st and 129th East Avenue, slamming into the side of a newspaper delivery van.

Troopers say Nicky Willis who was wearing a helmet, was killed on impact.

The driver of the newspaper van, 26-year-old Daniel Girty of Broken Arrow was not hurt.
