A food plant in Poteau is closing and a call center in Lawton is phasing out operations resulting the lost of 405 jobs.

Officials say 230 people will lose their jobs when the Bremner Food Group plant closes in Poteau.

The company laid off 100 workers Wednesday and says the plant will shut down on June 29, 2012.

The plant produces snack foods.

Poteau city officials say they are now trying to find a new tenant for the 250,000-square-foot building.

The Assurant Solutions call center in Lawton says it will phase out operations over the next few months and close the facility next year, leaving about 175 people out of work.

The call center is transferring work to Oregon and Florida call centers.

The company says the closure will begin this summer with most of the layoffs occurring in June, July and August.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
