A woman was killed early Sunday in Tulsa after her minivan clipped a guard rail on an exit ramp. The fatality crash took place in the 300 block of U.S. Highway 169 at the exit ramp to Interstate 244.
Tulsa police say the driver was northbound on Highway 169 at about 2:30 a.m.
"It looks like speed will be the main contributing factor to this one," said Sergeant Darren Bristow with the Tulsa Police Department.
"The off ramp from Highway 169 to 244 is curved, and we believe they took the curve just a little too fast and hit the retaining wall on the driver's side."
The door of the minivan was lodged in the guardrail, and the van apparently slid sideways, coming to rest on the eastbound 244 ramp.
The driver, thought to be a woman in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. The male passenger, also in his 30s, was treated at the scene. Police believe they were a married couple.
It is not known if alcohol was involved. The driver was not wearing a seat belt.
