Emergency personnel in Tulsa were called to a home in the 1600 block of North Columbia early Tuesday in a rain-related injury. They say heavy rains and a leaky roof caused sheetrock to collapse on a 34-year-old woman.
Firefighters say the residents had already dug the woman out from under a pile of wet sheetrock when they arrived on scene at about 9:30 a.m.
The occupants told authorities they had called their landlord about a leaky roof when the sheetrock collapsed.
EMSA medics treated her for minor injuries, but she refused transport to a hospital.
The Red Cross says it's providing financial assistance to the family of eight for a place to stay, clothing and food as needed.
